Lieutenant-colonel Bernard Pettigrew, CD

Originally from Quebec City, Lieutenant-Colonel Bernard Pettigrew enlisted as an infantryman with the Voltigeurs de Québec in 1991. After completing his training as an infantry soldier, he obtained his commission as an officer and qualified in the integration of the officers reserve (PIRO). He held the positions of platoon commander and company assistant until his transfer to the Régiment de Maisonneuve in 1999. At the Régiment de Maisonneuve, he was assigned the functions of recruiting officer, operations officer and company commander.

 

In 2007, he joined the ranks of the Royal 22ième Régiment and was assigned to 6 R22R, St-Hyacinthe and Drummondville. In 2008, Lieutenant-Colonel Pettigrew qualified on the Army Operations Course (COAT) and was subsequently promoted to the rank of major. He successively served as operations officer, company commander and deputy battalion commander.

 

In 2018, he was posted to 4 R22R in Laval as deputy battalion commander. In addition to his unit duties, he served as the training company commander at the 34 Canadian Brigade Group Combat School for more than ten years and became the chief instructor of the school in 2020. In August 2021 he finished the Joint Command and Staff Program (JCSP).

 

On the civilian side, Lieutenant-Colonel Pettigrew is entering his 24th year with the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). After his beginnings as a patroller, he left the gendarmerie and headed for investigations. He will be assigned to the south investigation center and the night investigations section. Currently, he is a detective sergeant in the economic crimes unit. Over time, he had the opportunity to develop a 3-credit course on the subject and distribute it at the National Police School (ENPQ) for 4 years to investigators from the 6 levels of police services in Quebec.

 

On the academic side, in recent years, Lieutenant-Colonel Pettigrew has completed 4 certificates; Law (U d Mtl), Supervision (HEC), Investigation (UQTR) and Financial Planning (UQAM).

In December 2019, he completed a Masters in Administration, concentration in the fight against financial crime at the University of Sherbrooke.

 

Lieutenant-Colonel Pettigrew took command of the Voltigeurs de Québec on May 08, 2021 and became the XLIII th Commander.
